Food. Drinks. Do. Relax.
Whether you’re looking to take a culinary tour of the region or want to know where the best pet-friendly spots are in town, we’ve got you covered. Have a recommendation? Let us know so we can add it to our list!
Pooch friendly activities
You’ll find the region pretty pooch-friendly. Dogs are allowed on Mollymook Beach when on-leash. The beach is approx. 2kms, and stretches between South Molly (Golf Club end) and North Molly. South Molly/Golf Club is an easy walk from Hank’s (approx 900 metres, or 10 minutes).
On the other side of the Golf Club, off-leash dogs are welcome at Collers Beach at all times. It's a little bit of a longer walk than Mollymook Beach, but less than a 5 minute drive from Hank's.
Check out pages 26 & 27 of this Shoalhaven guide for details and maps of off- and on-leash areas.
Pooch friendly eats
Our tips for cafes where you shouldn't have any issues with having a dog outside include:
Native Cafe (Ulladulla)
Treehouse Cafe (Ulladulla)
Beach Hut (take away at South end of Mollymook beach)
For fresh fish or fish and chips, head to The Fish Shop at Burrill Lake.
Tallwood is located across from the Mollymook shops, on Tallwood Ave. It's our pick for dinner or lazy lunch. One time we were even there at the same time as Rick Stein... So you know it must be good! Bookings are a must during the holidays.
Cupitt's Winery is a boutique, family-run winery, and just a five minute drive from Hank's at Mollymook. Drop in for a cellar door tasting, or book into the Vineyard Kitchen for lunch or dinner and enjoy the local produce on offer. They also run a fabulous Sunday Session.
Pilgrims Wholefoods is a very popular vegetarian café in the middle of Milton. Don't let the lack of meat put you off, though. Pilgrims is famous for its lentil burgers, and also offers salads, pies, breakfast, fresh juices and coffee. Pilgrims is open every day for breakfast and lunch. Their Espresso milkshake is a must! Head to Pilgrims for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights for its (vegetarian) Mexican fare.
Native Cafe overlooks Ulladulla Harbour on Princes Highway. It’s a local favourite and does great coffee, brekky and lunch. Check out their Instagram to see some of their drool-worthy eats.
Maverick Coffee is tucked away at shop 8, 171 Princes Highway (near Maccas). Drop in for your caffeine fix and a pastry from Three Mills Bakery (Canberra #represent). You can also get your filter coffee fix here. Their Instagram bio is simply, ‘We roast seriously good coffee’, and we couldn’t agree more!
And of course, the famous Bannisters is a 4.5 star boutique hotel, situated on top of a cliff overlooking Mollymook beach. Bannisters is famous for its restaurant, Rick Stein at Bannisters. If you're keen to check out Bannisters, but not looking to spend up big at Rick Stein's, they also have a pizza bar which is open to outside guests from 6pm every night of the week and offers pizza, tapas and drinks.
For a quiet night in, pick up local seafood or fish and chips from The Fish Shop at Burrill Lake and enjoy your meal back at Hank’s.
Milton is a small town around a 5 minute drive from Hank's at Mollymook, heading north on the Princes Highway. Milton boasts a range of cute shops, including homewares, antiques and clothing stores. Stop in to Pilgrims for an espresso milkshake.
For the golfers, Mollymook has two courses. Hilltop is an 18-hole golf course that is rated as one of the best in NSW. The Mollymook Beachside 9-hole course is more leisurely, and perfectly situated for a post-game beer at the Mollymook Golf Club.
Pigeon House Mountain
For the more adventurous, Pigeon House Mountain walk is a 2.5 km trek each way up the mountain. You will need to make sure you have a spare day in your itinerary for this one (according to the official website, it will take around four hours each way).
If you have a spare day in your itinerary, you may like to drive out to Jervis Bay (about a one hour drive from Hank's) or Berry (1.5 hour drive) — both north of Mollymook. Jervis Bay is a beautiful coastal town, famous for its white sand beaches and dolphins.
Berry is a cute town with lots of cafes and boutiques to keep you busy for an afternoon.

Checking out the crabs at Narrawallee Inlet
"The kids especially loved going to Narrawallee inlet at low tide in the evening, to see all the thousands of crabs!"

Meat from Quality Butchers, Mollymook shops
"When we had the BBQ we bought 4 Scotch Fillet steaks from the butcher at the Mollymook shops. VERY nice !! – a bit on the expensive side but we all agreed they were the best steaks we’d had for a long time and worth every cent."

The Fish Shop, Burrill Lake
Not a guest recommendation, but when I asked some locals about their preferred seafood provider, it was unanimous - The Fish Shop at Burrill Lake is not to be missed! Local prawns caught overnight in Coila and ready for you to eat the next day. YUM!

Loved waking up to the sounds of birds
"Your home was clean, bright, fresh and well appointed. It was close to the beach and just a quick car trip into town for food shopping or that relaxing coffee. The beds were so comfy and we always loved waking up to the sounds of birds. The table tennis was fun. Great selection of DVDs. It was in a beaut location, and was close by to many other wonderful beaches and walking tracks."
— Howard & Kate
Perfect for runners and dog walkers
"The house is walking distance from a lovely and very uncrowded long beach. Perfect for runners, dog walkers, and anyone who just likes being somewhere really lovely. We also made easy day trips to Jervis Bay and other places along the South Coast. Rachel was very helpful and responded instantly to any query."
Walking distance to the beach
"Highly recommend this as a relaxed destination, within walking distance to the beach. The house has everything you need and more. There were information leaflets about the local area and a folder with all the household information we needed. We would definitely visit again in the future. Highly recommend."
